The elections on 7 June mean a different thing for everyone. However, there is one certain meaning for the TsPAs: “a new parliament, a new session.”
We have made all our preparations on this pure fact, just like we have in the previous elections.
So what have been done?
Two meetings in May
It is a rule for the TsPA meetings to be held on the first week of each month. However, because of the elections, we have put our June meetings to one week back, organizing a series of two meetings, one on the first week of May, one on the last.
To the organized 33 meetings in these last two blocks before the elections, 473 non-governmental organizations attended. The general topic of all meetings was the same: “10 Demands of the Civil Society from the PM Candidates”
The demands…
Just like we did before all previous elections, we have made a survey before the general elections on 7 June as well, and we have shared the 10 Demands of Turkey report prepared with the results of this survey with you in our previous announcement.
And how did the candidates reply to these demands?
69 PM candidates have participated to the meeting series in May. In all meetings, those demands were debated; the candidates have signed under the demands which they agree with, and they have expressed the drawbacks for the demands they don’t agree with.
You can find all details of these debates on www.tkmm.net, in the reports section.

Batman sPA has claimed their demands in a different way. Batman sPA participant 42 institutions have shared their 10 demands with the people of Batman, because of not having any PM candidates attending their last two meetings. Now we know that the candidates are informed about these demands, even though they haven’t signed them, because the statement was widely covered in the local press.
Diyarbakır sPA has shared their 10 Demands with the public and the candidates through a similar event, with a press statement organized to which HDP and AKp Provincial Presidencies participated.
Friends of TsPA
While the 24th Session of the TsPA is ending, we have prepared a petition and opened it to the approval of parliament members. The truth needs to be underlined, though, that we could not reach all parliament members because of the lack of time and the pace of election campaigns. We apologize from the parliament members in advance, who will say, “but I wasn’t informed about it,” kindly requesting them to look at their e-mailboxes.
We thank all parliament members who participated to the work of the TsPA during the 24th Session, not abstaining from working with the civil society.
Our expectation for the 25th Session is to cover important distances in the collaboration of the Parliament and the civil society.
The most important paragraph of the petition we have prepared is as following:
“I support the TsPA (Turkish small Provincial Assemblies) who aims to have a continuous, regular, direct, unprejudiced and uncensored dialogue between the civil society and the politics, and who work continuously since 2008 to provide this. I invite all parliament members, mayors, municipal mayors and all politicians to contribute to the creation of a dialogue tradition instead of polarization, by participating to these meetings.”
