Özden started her speech by thanking Mr. Bilgen.
Özden announced the two common denominators resulting from the December meetings, in which the issue of “International Relations and Terrorism” has been handled and to which 101 NGOs have attended:
1- The civil society must be more active for a democratic Turkey and for peace; a new democratic Constitution must be constructed, where the civil society participates the period of structuring.
2- We reprimand the killing of Tahir Elçi.
Expressing that the situation, which is defined as disintegration by some and as division by others, has also reflected onto the meetings of the small Provincial Assemblies; Özden stated that the more polarization of the society in terms of the reasons and supporters of terrorism leads to more polarization of the civil society. Özden also indicated that the demand of a civil Constitution comes to the forefront despite all and that the civil society wants to take part in this period of the Constitution; whereas the process has to be open, transparent and accountable, while the opinions of the civil society must be taken into consideration.
