We have announced the small Provincial Assemblies of Turkey June 2017 Common Denominator Report with a press meeting organized at the Parliament with Republican People’s Party (CHP) Mersin MP Aytuğ Atıcı.
In the June meetings with the general agenda, “Living under the State of Emergency,” similar topics and subtopics were debated one after another; which may look like “a situation which will conclude in the same way” to an outside observer. However, the extension of the State of Emergency as well as the international and regional developments during this time seem to have created changes from one month to another in the evaluations of participants.
When we look at the debates as a whole, we see that opinions were shaped around the question “whether the declaration of the rule of State of Emergency was a necessity, or a preference.” There are also differences in the views regarding the proceedings, judicial applications and the consequences of such events around the question, “Are they terrorists or citizens?”
There was no MP participation in this month’s meetings except People’s Democratic Party (HDP) MP Hüda Kaya. There is only one common denominator in the debated opinions of this month:
“GNAT State of Emergency Commission must start its active work as soon as possible.”
