sPAT has gathered in June 2016 with the general agenda, “Why Presidency, What Kind of Presidency?”
Deputies and NGO representatives in 15 provinces have gathered around 3 common denominators on the general agenda. The meetings included 145 Non-Governmental Organizations; as well as Taner Yıldız from Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Kayseri, Ali Şeker from Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Istanbul.
sPAT June 2016 Common Denominator Report has then been announced with a press meeting organized by CHP Istanbul MP Ali Şeker together with sPAT Coordinator Oya Özden at the Parliament. The Common Denominators reached are as follows:
1- Checks and balances mechanisms of Turkey do not work today as well.
2- Our need of a new democratic Constitution persists.
3- The judicature is neither unbiased, nor independent. The conditions of those has to be formed initially.
