sPAT April 2016 Common Denominator Report has been announced to public with a press meeting organized at the Parliament by Republican People’s Party (CHP) Eskişehir MP Gaye Usluer together with sPAT Parliamentary Coordinator Oya Özden.
The common denominators of 108 Non-Governmental Organizations coming together in 13 provinces on the agenda, “The right to asylum, its application in the world and TR-EU Convention”:
1. The Turkish society is doing its best for the arriving refugees.
2. The TR-EU Convention is focused on financial solutions, not on humanitarian solutions on the issues of refugees. More human-focused projects must be developed, instead of benefit-oriented ones.
3. The West, although known with its development on human rights, is being double-faced regarding refugees. The politics of Turkey, on the other hand, is focused on saving the day.
People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya and People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Batman MP Mehmet Ali Aslan have also participated to the meetings in Ankara sPAT, while in Eskişehir sPAT, Republican People’s PArty (CHP) Eskişehir MPs Utku Çakırözer and Gaye Usluer did not leave their seats empty. When the opinions of participants at sPAT meetings are considered, it is possible to gather them around three main topics:
1- The reasons for the war in Syria and opinions on its consequences; issues refugees are facing.
2- The attitude of Turkey and the West on refugees, opinions on the politics they follow.
3-Fixing the current condition of refugees.
