sPAT leaves 2015 behind by taking the leading topics in November on its agenda with an inclusive title in the meetings of December 2015: “International Relations and Terrorism.”
The IS massacres in Paris and Lebanon occurred immediately after our November meetings, making the future of Syria, the Middle East and Caucasians the prior agenda of the world once again.
The “forces of coalition,” to which Turkey belong to as well, have agreed on a transition government with the alliance of Russia and Iran. Then Turkey shot down a warplane belonging to the Russian Air Forces, with the reason that the rules of engagement previously announced by Turkey were violated. It is still being closely followed, how the relations between Turkey and Russia will be affected by this, both in terms of politics and economics.
The Syrian politics of Turkey is on the public agenda for a long time now. Activities coded as “trucks of National Intelligence Organization” and the reflection of these activities in public press came to agenda once again after journalists Erdem Gül and Can Dündar were arrested. And a new subtitle emerged, from the debates of National Intelligence Organization trucks: the news reported – are they journalism, or espionage?
The ambiguity of the future of Syria and Iraq causes thousands of people to continue trying to escape their homeland, to reach to Turkey and to Europe, crossing Turkey. It is obvious that Europe is not enthusiastic about opening its borders for refugees; so much so that it was decided to continue the EU membership negotiations with Turkey because of the “refugee crisis.” Opening new chapters, a financial support of 3 billion Euros annually and providing “visa exemption” for Turkish citizens in 2016 are all topics on debate.
It looks like a new period is yet to begin in relations of Turkey and the EU.
On the other hand, the new clash period started in the Eastern and the Southeastern Turkey cause worry. Ditches, operations, security zones and deaths… And lastly, the killing of our dear friend, our supporter Tahir Elçi…
Even the summary of the summary of the matter lasts this long.
