Independent MP Idris Bal revealed the SPA’s “May 2014 Common Ground Report” and announced the two common grounds of the Small Provincial Assemblies took place in 22 cities around the country, including Agri and Mardin, in May.
Here are the two common grounds gathered from the assemblies:
- It is pleasing that the presidential election will be conducted by the ballot measure; however, the present election system and the Constitution are inadequate.
- The president must be transparent, honest, accountable and someone that embraces people from all strata.
Idris Bal also remarked that SPA’s parliamentary coordinator Oya Ozden was not allowed to enter the room during the press meeting as so in April, and quoted the last sentences of May report: “While leaving behind the local election and getting ready to select our country’s 12th president, the common purpose of our meetings are to have more transparent and democratic elections and we wish the selected will ease the tension in the country.”
